Coach Herman Alvarado grew up in San Diego, CA and attended Montgomery High School and San Ysidro High School where he helped lead SYHS to a CIF Division II Championship in his senior year. Out of high school he attended and played baseball for Trinidad State Junior College as a utility player before transferring to Nyack College where he started as a shortstop and catcher and majored in Communications. Alvarado appeared in 93 career games, hit .348, recorded 119 hits, 16 doubles, four triples, three home runs, 11 stolen bases and 73 RBI. Following his collegiate career, he coached at the Perfect Game collegiate summer league. Alvarado currently plays in the Mexican League for Pericos de Puebla as an infielder.

Alvarez also played for the Mexico National Team in the 2007 Pan-American Games in Venezuela as well as in the Junior Olympic semifinals three years in a row for Mexico (2012-14). He was a three-year letterwinner at Washington State University where he was a two-time All-Pac-12 Conference selection. Alvarez appeared in 156 career games, all started at shortstop, hit .286, recorded 173 hits, 42 doubles, three triples, two home runs, 16 stolen bases and 56 RBI. He received his bachelor’s degree in social sciences. Alvarez was selected in the 22nd round of the MLB draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2019. Since being drafted he has played for GCL Pirates (Rookie League) and Greensboro Grasshoppers (Single A). In 2021-2022, Alvarez played for the Altoona Curve (Double A) where he had a breakout season as the first Curve player in franchise history to make the 20-20 Club hitting 20 home runs and stealing 20 bases.

Coach Conrado Diaz grew up in San Diego, CA and attended San Ysidro High School He went on to attend and play baseball at Trinidad State Junior College where he was a NJCAA All American in 2018 as a catcher. He transferred to University of Texas, Rio Grande Valley in 2019. He earned his degree (B.S. in Criminal Justice) from UTRGV in 2021. During his three years (Covid in 2020) at UTRGV he was recognized as part of the 2020 and 2021 Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year watch lists. After graduating in 2021, he signed with the Algodoneros de Unión Laguna of the Liga Mexicana de Beisbol for the 2022 season. An injury cut his 2022 season short but he got back onto the field and had a phenomenal winter ball season.

Carrillo grew up in Chula Vista and graduated from Montgomery High School in 1998. He was the Metro Player of the Year in 1998 at MOH and still holds the single season home run record at 11 in a season. He was drafted in the 26th round by the Houston Astros in 1998 and played three seasons as a first baseman. He won the league championship in SingleA in 1991 in Martinsvillw, West Virginia and was a big part of that, going 4 for 7 with 5 RBI’s winning both games 4-1 and 4-2. Carrillo has been coaching youth sports since 2004 and has been a travel baseball coach since 2010.
